Pan

Merikanto completed the third and final version of Pan in 1924, having destroyed the earlier versions in fits of self-criticism. Its music is full of life, sprouting new impulses and possibilities, but there are also opposite forces at work, arresting the flow and nurturing meditative concen­tration.
