Projection for chamber orchestra

Joji Yuasa has been composing pieces under the same title since 1955 and this turns out to be the sixteenth sixteenth one. He took the word ’projection’ from Jean-Paul Sartre’s ’projet’, which he interprets as expressing ideas and intentions in terms of time and projecting them towards future. He comprehends music in terms of ’transitions in sonic energy over time’. This piece is focused on the tension caused by timbre, for example, a contrast of light and shade, perspective of sound, and spatiality that is brought from the three-dimensional movements in music, and also on the sound texture.
