Scetches - Different Places
Product Details
Description
„There is a firework display of harmonic and rhythmic finesse, full of fascinating sound ideas and sophisticated mixtures… at no point is it doggedly avant-garde, it is simply good, not to say first-class…“ - Scetches is a mix of driving funk-jazz„anyhting“ with rock borrowings and impressionistic sound collages. The compositions develop as if by chance from a given theme, a motif. A merciless groove changes into spherical sound paintings‚ suddenly a rap bursts in between - nobody is safe from surprise.
The debut album "Different Places“ was recorded by trumpeter Christoph Titz and bassist Werner Lauscher together with percussionist Roland Peil and drummer Elmar Federkeil. The raw sound quality of the live-recorded debut album shows the tremendous dynamics of SCETCHES, which also makes each of their concerts a true experience. SCETCHES is never about perfection, but about groove, ideas and their realization. In the meantime, the line-up has changed. The groove section now consists of Marc Lehan (Victory of the Better Man, David Torn, Hans Lüdemann's RISM, among others) on drums and percussionist Daniel Moreno (International Commission, Connexion Latina, among others). The quartet is now supported by keyboardist Michel Bisceglia.
SCETCHES belong to a generation of young German musicians who don't really care what you call their music. The main thing is that the music is good.
