Description

Written in a single day in August 2012 while on a residency in Massachusetts, this simple piece makes an interplay with the respective colours of the violin and cello. Both instruments are retuned, causing them to speak with subtly altered voices. Clear and direct melodic patterns are made out of the instruments’ natural harmonics and resonant open strings. The voices are closely intertwined, variously moving in parallel, exchanging lines, merging and slipping off-kilter with one another.
